Returns use adjusted closes, so dividends are included; 3- and 5-year figures are yearly averages. Fees are not listed because published figures disagree: check each fund's fee and Shariah board on its issuer's page (the fund name links there). Past returns do not guarantee future ones.
Choosing a halal fund
- Stock funds (SPUS, HLAL, MNZL) hold US companies that pass an Islamic index's screen. Their holdings overlap heavily with the large tech names.
- World and emerging-market funds (UMMA, SPWO, ISDE) spread the same screen across other countries.
- Sukuk (SPSK) are Islamic bonds: lower returns and lower swings than stocks.
- London-listed UCITS ETFs (iShares, Invesco) are often easier to buy from the Gulf and the UK.
- A fund's dividends may still need purification: some publish the percentage each year.
